There has been no let up in extremist-detonated explosions in Assam with two blasts rocking the state on Monday killing one person and injuring 12 others.

Police said suspected militants belonging to the banned United Liberation Front of Asom detonated an improvised explosive device in the market of Upper Assam's oldest oil town Digboi at 3 pm on Monday killing one person and injuring 12 others.

The killed person was identified as one Ram Chandra Verma. Four of the seriously injured persons were admitted to the Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh, while the rest were being given treatment at Indian Oil Corporation hospital

at Digboi.

Another explosion rocked the outskirts of Goalpara town in Western Assam. The blast took place just off an army camp in the locality.

About 26 blasts rocked the state since Thursday evening killing eight persons, including seven civilians and a policeman.

Close to 100 persons were injured while 10 oil and gas pipelines, two railway tracks and a railway bridge were blown off in Upper Assam's districts of Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.
