Bomb threat on Dubai-Chennai flight a hoax

Tension prevailed for a few hours in the international terminal of the Chennai airport during the wee hours on Saturday after an anonymous call said that a bomb had been placed aboard an incoming flight, airport sources said.

Airport sources and police said the anonymous call was received by the city police control room around 1.30 am stating that a bomb had been placed aboard an Emirates airlines flight coming to Chennai from Dubai.

Immediately, security peronnel, including bomb disposal squad, were informed and when the Airbus landed at Chennai at 4.10 am with 255 passengers, a thorough check was made, but nothing was found, the sources said adding, the call proved to be a hoax.
