The Delhi police on Wednesday let off the Apollo Hospitals, which came under a lot of criticism over its handling of the Rahul Mahajan drug use case.

The police said it wanted to avoid any dilution in the high-profile case.

After interrogating the doctors for two days on the treatment given to Rahul after his admission to the hospital on Friday, the police said they would not like to undertake any "phenomenal exercise that would dilute the original case."

The police questioned the doctors of the premier private hospital after contradictory reports emanated from the hospital about the presence of drugs in Rahul's urine sample.

A day after Apollo doctors gave a clean chit to Rahul stating that he had tested negative for all 14 identifiable drugs, they did an about-turn and talked about the presence of a cocktail of drugs.
