Central Bureau of Investigation director Vijay Shankar arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon for his personal appearance in the Jammu and Kashmir high court, regarding investigations into the infamous sex scandal.

Shankar is accompanied by some senior CBI officials. The agency is investigating the recently unearthed sex racket and has, so far, arrested eight persons, including a deputy superintendent of police. They were identified by Yasmeena, the minor girl who spoke out against the racket.

A division bench of the high court had last week directed the CBI chief to be present in the court on Tuesday and had asked the agency to speed up the investigations.

Based on CBI reports, the chief judicial magistrate of Srinagar has also issued non-bailable warrants against the former additional advocate general and a deputy inspector general of the paramilitary Border Security Force for their involvement in the case.
