The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Mumbai Police arrested two persons, including a Pakistan trained bomb-maker, on Monday with a cache of arms and some high-grade explosive, police said on Monday.

The terror suspects got down from Gorakhpur-Kurla Kushinagar Express at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at suburban Kurla Monday morning when an ATS team waiting there arrested them, ATS chief Joint Police Commissioner K P Raghuvanshi told reporters in Mumbai.

From them, ATS has claimed to have recovered two imported firearms and approximately a kilogramme of highly inflammable high-grade explosive, besides topographic maps of Maharashtra, Mumbai and Manali (Himachal Pradesh).

The explosive powder has been sent for forensic examination, since the ATS was not able to immediately establish its identity.

Raghuvanshi said that from the quality of explosive recovered, it appears that the two were part of some terrorist group, and the admission by one of the arrested of having undergone a 22-day training in Pakistan in bomb-making, has further strengthened the suspicion.

The duo has been identified as Mushiruddin Salauddin Siddiqui (27), a native of Kanpur, but residing in Virar town of neighbouring Thane district, and Manzoor Mahmood Ansari (37), a resident of Birganj town of Nepal.

Siddiqui, the ATS official said, was interrogated earlier in connection with the 2003 serial bomb blasts, but was released as Mumbai Police had then not been able to prove his involvement in the blasts.
