Toeing the Left parties' line, Samajwadi Party, which is extending outside support to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government, Friday opposed any plans for scheduling United States President George W Bush's address to Parliament during his visit to India.

"American President Bush is arriving in India. It is being said that he would be addressing members of Parliament in the Central Hall of Parliament. If it so happens, Samajwadi Party MPs will oppose it," party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav told reporters.

Assailing the US for its "hegemonistic" policies, he said Bush attacked Iraq on "flimsy" grounds, which resulted in the death of thousands of innocent people.

"Today he (Bush) is threatening Iran like a mafia don saying either listen to us or face the consequences. Dictatorship has become American policy," Yadav said.

He also accused United States of aiding Pakistan against India. On the one hand, the US talked about ending terrorism, on the other it was "indirectly aiding" the terrorist camps running in Pakistan.
