All Indian pilgrims on Tuesday successfully performed the symbolic stoning of the devil in the Saudi holy city of Mina, one of the final rituals of the annual Haj pilgrimage.

"On the third day of the Haj, all Indian pilgrims reached Mina safely from Arafat and have successfully performed Rami (pelting of stones) at the Jamarat (the site of stoning)," the Consulate General of India in Jeddah said in a statement.

The Indian Haj Mission deployed an exclusive Jamarat Coordination Team comprising of a core team of 20 officials equipped with mobile phones for assisting the pilgrims and to prevent any over-crowding at the Jamarat area, it said.

"The team closely monitored the crowd movement at the Jamarat throughout the day and assisted the special squads of Indian officials deployed at each of the 41 Maktabs (camps) allotted to the Indian pilgrims to ensure that the ritual of Rami at the Jamarat is performed in an organised manner," the statement said.

A Jamarat Task Force was also deployed at the Jamarat Bridge to control and monitor the movement of pilgrims, it said, adding the Indian Haj Mission assisted hundreds of pilgrims who had lost their way to their camps.
