Election Commission observer K J Rao, who won accolades for his conduct of Bihar assembly poll in a free and fair manner, arrived in Krishnanagar on Monday to check the voters' list for the ensuing West Bengal assembly polls.
As per schedule, Rao will meet representatives of all political parties later in the day.
He will also meet Nadia district officials on the issue. Rao's visit is significant in the wake of Trinamool Congress' allegation that there were discrepancies in the district voters' list.
Chanchal Debnath, secretary of Nadia district Trinamool Congress alleged that names of 7,000 'dead' and 3,500 fake voters were included in the list of Haringhata constituency of the district among others.
