Months after she alleged that ayurvedic medicines prepared by spiritual guru Baba Ramdev contained animal parts and human bones, Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Brinda Karat Tuesday claimed that the Union health ministry has found that the guru has violated licensing and labelling provisions.

Producing a letter purportedly written by joint secretary in the health ministry, she said analysis reports of the samples prima facie reveal a violation of licensing and labelling provisions of the Indian Drugs and Cosmetics Act and demanded strict action against him.

"We came to know in June-July last year that herbal ayurvedic medicines prepared by Divya Yog Pharmacy, owned by Ramdev, contained animal material and human bones. We then handed over the medicine samples to the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy and now they have confirmed our apprehension," she told reporters.

Baba Ramdev had vehemently denied the charges levelled by Karat when she first raised earlier last year.

Accusing the spiritual leader of "breaching the trust" reposed in him by his followers, she asked Uttarachal Chief Minister N D Tiwari to take "strict action" against Ramdev and

others who are associated with 'Divya Yog Pharmacy' in Haridwar.

"Using the popularity of television channels, he is selling drugs which are adulterated. This is a huge breach of trust to his followers," Karat said and accused Tiwari of

helping the spiritual leader because of his "personal relations with him."
