Pakistan on Thursday described as 'positive' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's remarks that his government was committed to a 'pragmatic and practical' solution to all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, and said that the Indian leader had shown some flexibility.
"It is a positive statement. We want both the sides to show sincerity, flexibility and courage for the solution of Kashmir dispute," Tasneem Aslam, Pakistan foreign office spokesperson told the state-run PTV.
Aslam said that judging from the media reports of Dr Singh's comments, he has shown some flexibility. Pakistan has repeatedly asked for peaceful solution of bilateral issues, including Kashmir, she said.
Pakistan wanted an atmosphere of cooperation in the region as being witnessed in other parts of the world, she added, so that people could get opportunities for economic development.
Dr Singh's comments on the Indo-Pak ties made in a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday were prominently reported in the Pakistani media.
