When Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived at the Tokyo Four Seasons Hotel, after the banquet hosted for him by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, there was an unexpected surprise for him.

In the lobby, waiting to greet him, was former US President George Bush Sr, who walked up to Dr Singh and said, "Hello, Mr Prime Minister, I hope my son (President George W Bush) has been behaving himself."

"It's good to see you, sir. I have been enjoying my interactions with your son," Dr Singh responded.

Accompanied by his wife, Barbara, Bush Sr is in Tokyo for business meetings and when informed that Dr Singh was expected back at the hotel, they waited to meet him.

Bush Sr quipped back - "I hope his table manners have improved. If not, please complain to Barbara right away."

The three then left for a private chat.
