Suspected extremists triggered a powerful explosion on the broad gauge railway track between Daldali and Diphu railway stations in Karbi Anglong hill district of Assam at 9-12 pm on Tuesday night throwing rail communication out of gear in Guwahati-Tinsukia section of Northeast Frontier Railway.
An N F Railway spokesman in Guwahati informed that the blast caused extensive damage to the track and senior officials and emergency damage control teams rushed to the blast site from the divisional headquarter at Lumding in the adjacent Nagaon district.
The spokesman said that all the trains scheduled to run on that section were regulated at different
stations immediately after the blast. The blast blew about a three-meter portion of the track.
