Minister who began oath before Governor did
August 29, 2006 15:21 IST

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's Cabinet expansion on Tuesday had its share of amusing moments when Peoples Democratic Party leader Javed Mustaffa Mir started taking oath of office and secrecy before the Governor could say "I".

Mir's action drew laughter from all those present at the swearing-in ceremony at the Raj

Bhavan in Srinagar.

The PDP leader, who was seen carrying a pistol inside his coat, began the oath by saying 'Bismillah (In the name of God).' He then prostrated and kissed the ground after being sworn in as the new Minister of State by Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha.

Interestingly, in Tuesday's expansion, no representation was given to the Kashmiri Pandits, but a Sikh member was sworn in as the Minister of State.
