Uttaranchal police nab Mumbai blast suspect

Miss Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya, Director General of the Uttaranchal police, has confirmed the arrest of Mansur alias Jitender by the special task force which is investigating the Mumbai train blast cases.

Speaking to rediff.com on phone from Dehradun she said that the accused had been living under a false name in a small locality about 25 km from the state capital.

"Mansur was picked up by the Mumbai police 4 days back from Mumbai

and they had come searching for relevant material. He had been living under a false identity," she said.

According to her Mansur had spent sometimes in Bhopal and then he moved to Himachal Pradesh where he acquired the false name Jitender. After carrying out search operations the SIT officers returned to Mumbai.

Mansur,according to Uttaranchal police, is one of the key operators of Lashkar-e-Tayiba and could turn out be the surprise catch for the SIT as they progress further in their investigations.
