Action appears imminent against former external affairs minister Natwar Singh, indicted by the Justice Pathak Authority in the Iraqi oil-for-food scam, when the Congress Disciplinary Action Committee meets on Tuesday night to discuss his moves, utterances and "misuse" of the party's name.

Highly-placed sources in the party said the Congress DAC headed by senior leader A K Anthony is likely to discuss the issue on Tuesday night.

The Justice Pathak Inquiry report, while indicting Natwar Singh and his son Jagat, has exonerated the Congress party.

The party is particularly angry at the beleagured leader for "misusing the name of the Congress" while playing a role in "influencing and facilitating" the procurement of oil contracts in Iraq in 2001 for two persons close to him.

The general view in the Congress is that the minimum action against Natwar Singh -- who had given a privilege notice against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be suspension from the party while some say he could attract the extreme action of expulsion.

Anthony is expected in Delhi on Tuesday night after which the DAC is likely to meet.
