Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan's wife Rekha has told the police that she saw the third shot being fired at her husband by his younger brother Pravin, currently in police custody, police sources said on Friday.

This was revealed after police recorded the statements of Mahajan's family members, including his wife and BJP leader Gopinath Munde. Rekha told police that she wanted to protect Mahajan from the gunshots Pravin fired at him but by the time she reached his gun got jammed and Pravin escaped, sources said.

Later, she rang up her daughter Poonam and brother-in-law Munde, asking them to rush to the house.
