Two Army doctors visited the Hinduja hospital on Saturday for consultations on the condition of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan who was shot at by his brother Pravin Mahajan, according to BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

The Army doctors visited the hospital on a request by Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Javadekar told reporters.

The doctors came to the hospital only for consultation and treatment would continue to be given by the team from Hinduja hospital who performed surgery on Mahajan, he said. The Army doctors told Mahajan's family that the treatment given by the Hinduja doctors was proper, Javadekar said.

BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who also visited the hospital, said, "Doctors have to wait for few more hours to decide whether a second surgery was needed. His condition has to stablise and only thereafter doctors would consider whether there was a need for a second surgery."

Mahajan's condition continues to be critical and party workers were offering prayers in the districts and elsewhere in the state, he said.
