The All India United Muslim Morcha, a non-political organisation, will field Mohibur Rehman alias Haji Munna as an independent candidate against Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the by-election from the Rae Bareilly parliamentary constituency.

National co-convenor of the Morcha, Kamal Ashraf, said Rehman was formerly the national general secretary of  the Samata Party.

Ashraf said the Morcha's main issue in the election will be reservation for Muslims according to their population.

He claimed that eminent Muslim religious leaders, including Kalve Jauvad and Kalve Sadiq, will address election meetings of the Morcha.

Rehman is expected to file his nomination on April 17 or 18 for the May 8 bypoll.
