An official of a premier central intelligence agency was killed and two others were injured in a militant ambush near Tral in south Kashmir Pulwama district Wednesday afternoon.

A senior police officer told rediff.com that militants sprayed bullets at a passing private car carrying a team of Intelligence Bureau officials.

"Assistant sub-inspector Vinod Kumar died on the spot while Inspector Param Desh and constable Neeraj Kumar were injured. They were taken to hospital for treatment," said the officer.

Security forces rushed to the spot immediately and the area was searched. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
