Refuting reports that her brother and condemned Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh had converted to Islam, his sister Dalbir Kaur on Thursday again appealed to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to consider their mercy petition seeking pardon for him from death sentence.

"This is next to impossible, since my brother is a strong believer of Sikh religion and conversion is next to impossible for him," Kaur said denying statements from Pakistan that Sarabjit had adopted Muslim religion and changed his name as Sarfaraz Ahmed while languishing in Kotlakhpatrai Jail in Lahore.

"There is nothing wrong if Sarabjit recites the Quran (Holy scripture of Muslims) inside the Lahore prison in the absence of Sikh religions literature," she added.

Kaur said Sarabjit's lawyer Rana Abdul Hamid also has no such confirmation in Pakistan with regard to his client's conversion.

Sarabjit was sentenced to death by Pakistan court a few years back in a series of bomb blast cases. His first review petition before the Pakistan Supreme Court was rejected in February in 2006.
