The Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the bail granted to former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathy and his wife Madhumani in poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case.
A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhan set aside the bail granted to them by the Allahabad high court and directed the couple to surrender.
The court said in case of any delay, the state will have to take steps to take them in custody. The court cancelled the bail bond that was furnished while they were enlarged on bail.
Subsequent to this, Tripathy and his wife moved an application for their surrender in a Lucknow court, possibly on Tuesday. The request was moved in the Lucknow sessions court, their counsel said.
