Pakistan, on Monday, insisted on a similar treatment as has been given to India on civilian nuclear cooperation with the United States and the European Union, citing the country's huge energy requirements.

Pakistan, in its quest for peaceful use of nuclear technology, sought cooperation from the EU and the US to meet its energy requirements, Foreign Office spokesman Naeem Khan told the media.

He said Pakistan would need 8800 MW of energy by 2030, adding 'no discrimination will be acceptable' as the country's civilian nuclear industry was under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards. Pakistan expects the same kind of treatment as has been given to India, Khan said.
