Bomb blasts minutes apart hit a KFC and a McDonalds restaurant in the southern Pakistan city of Karachi injuring at least 11 people, police and witnesses said.
Imran Shaukat, a police official, said explosions happened late on Thursday night at the two fast food restaurants in Karachi's upscale Defence district.
The first bomb went off inside the KFC in a residential neighborhood, where three families were dining at the time, said witness Mohammed Akhtar.
At least seven people, including a girl, were injured by flying glass, local media quoted witnesses as saying. The
windscreens of three cars parked outside the fast food restaurant were also samshed due to the impact of the blast.
Tariq Jamil, the city police chief, said the bomb went off on the mezzanine floor of the restaurant and blasted a hole through a concrete wall.
Eight minutes later, a bomb went off outside the McDonalds on Karachi's crowded beach front, where nearly 80 people were dining. The explosion occurred in the rear portion, outside the kitchen, media reports said adding that at
least four people were injured.
