Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss with his Pakistani counterpart Riaz Mohammad Khan from Thursday, the progress in the composite dialogue process as well as to set the course of the peace maneuvers.
Indo-Pak talks: Terrorism high on agenda
Saran told reporters in Islamabad that he was looking forward to holding fruitful talks with his Pakistani counterpart.
The foreign secretary, who was received by Khan, senior Pakistani officials and Indian High Commissioner Shiv Shankar Menon, would be seeking to wrap up the second round of the dialogue.
India says 'noticeable progress' in talks
During the 2-day talks, the 2 top diplomats will review the progress made on the 8 issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, mentioned in the composite dialogue framework.
Saran and Khan will prepare the agenda and ground work for the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pervez Musharraf in New York on September 14 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly annual session.
India agrees to release Pak prisoners
Ahead of his meeting, Saran had, on Tuesday, said in Delhi that there had been "noticeable progress" in some of the issues discussed under the composite dialogue framework.
