India Monday despatched the third consignment of relief material for Pakistan for its quake-affected people.

The five-wagon load of consignment of tents, blankets, medicines, food and garments were sent by a special train to reach Pakistan Tuesday via Wagah-Attari border, official sources said.

The consignment includes 100 tonnes of fortified biscuits, 26 tonnes of blankets, 250 tents, 9.5 tonnes of plastic sheets and 10 tonnes of medicines, they said.

The special train left Delhi at 6.10 pm and is expected to reach Amritsar Tuesday morning after which it will leave for Lahore.

India, responding to Pakistan's call for international aid, has already sent relief material in two batches earlier, joining the world community's efforts in relief for quake-affected people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Soon after the killer earthquake struck on October 8, New Delhi rushed the first lot of 25 tonnes of relief material to Islamabad through a military IL-76 transport aircraft.

The second consigment of 68 tonnes was sent by four wagons attached to the Samjhautha Express on October 14.
