Two militant outfits - Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba - have suffered major losses in the October 8 earthquake in terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, but militancy has continued in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Army said on Saturday that it has killed 29 militants in the last one week. Militant groups like HM have suffered 'maximum losses', followed by LeT, in camps in areas like Rawalakot in PoK, Director General of Military Operation Lieutenant General Madan Gopal said.

He was speaking at a briefing organised by the Home Ministry on relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken in quake-hit J&K.

Asked if anti-militancy operations of the security forces have suffered because of the quake, he said the forces have been carrying out a 'happy balance' of relief operations and, at the same time, not letting their guard down in operations against militants.

Observing that two infiltrations bids were made north of Kupwara since the quake struck, Gopal said the forces killed 29 militants, 16 of whom were making infiltration attempts, while suffering some casualties on their side.
