Describing the Supreme Court order on the Bihar poll as "untimely", Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party Friday said the apex Court could have waited till after the election to pronounce the order.

"On the one hand, the order says that dissolution of the assembly was unconstitutional and on the other hand, it allows the electoral process to continue. If the dissolution was unconstitutional, then the assembly should have been restored. Since that has not been done, the apex court could have waited for the poll to be over. What was the hurry?" LJP national general secretary Rajan G James told reporters in New Delhi.

Maintaining that the brief order had turned out to be "a purely academic exercise", the LJP leader said the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal-United were "only fooling the people" by saying that their views had been upheld by the Supreme Court.

"Nothing has been said about the BJP or JD-U in the order. Neither does the apex court say anything about the legislators who quit LJP to join JD-U or BJP and now they are in some other party," James said and asked the people "not to get swayed by their propoganda".

Alleging that the Bihar police had withdrawn Paswan's security, he said they had sought immediate restoration of it keeping in mind Thursday's attempt on the life of BJP leader Ravi Shanker Prasad.

James said a memorandum to this effect was submitted to the Election Commission and said the action of the state police chief was "motivated and highly uncalled for".
