Hailing the Supreme Court's ruling that the dissolution of the Bihar assembly was unconstitutional, National Democratic Alliance convener George Fernandes on Friday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should "pay the price" for the decision.

"The Supreme Court has put its stamp on the truth (by its judgement)," Fernandes told reporters in New Delhi.

Truth was with us, says petitioner

However, the Janata Dal (United) leader said he would have preferred that the original assembly was revived as elections "cost a lot of money for candidates".

"(But) the Judges, in their wisdom, have taken a decision and we accept it," he added.

All should honour verdict: Buta

Fernandes said he was sure that the apex Court had considered the "lies and looting" by Governor Buta Singh and hoped it would come out with a statement on his role.

"But since the decision was endorsed by the cabinet, the prime minister should pay the price for it," he said.
