Kashmir: President to visit border village

In yet another first for a head of state, President A P J Abdul Kalam would be visiting Urusa, the last village on the Line of Control, in north Kashmir during his two-day visit to the state beginning Saturday to assess the relief measures following the killer quake in October 2005.

During his visit, the President will interact with the people in Tangdhar, Uri and Urusa village. All these villages are located near the LoC, but Urusa is the last village dividing Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

Urusa village was the worst affect village in the quake.

Kalam was the first President to visit Uri in 2004, which was followed by yet another first by interacting with soldiers at the world's highest battlefield -- Siachen.

Popularly known as people's President, Kalam will also visit a school damaged in the October 8 earthquake, interact with children and visit a civil hospital.

The President will also visit an orphanage at Srinagar and interact with school children there.

Before his return on November 27, Kalam will address the troops in Tangdhar annd also visit injured armymen at a hospital in Srinagar.
