The Janata Dal-United today said its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar was that of "friendship" and not "engagement" and the future of the relationship would depend on the saffron party's "attitude".
"This is a relationship of friendship and not engagement. Its future will depend on their attitude," JD-U's member of Parliament Prabhunath Singh said in New Delhi as the National Democratic Alliance appeared headed for a victory in Bihar.
On the possibility of Ram Vilas PAswan's Lok Janshakti Party joining the alliance, he said, "It is up to Paswan. We had earlier also invited him to join our alliance, but he rejected the invitation."
However, it was unlikely Paswan would join the alliance as he would prefer to stay at the Centre, because he is "power-hungry", Singh said.
