The Left parties on Monday expressed satisfaction at the steps taken by the United Progressive Alliance government on setting up of two inquiry panels into the findings of the Volcker Committee report.
"I briefed the Left parties on the legal positions and processes and the steps taken to appoint the R S Pathak Inquiry Authority and the special investigation by Virendra Dayal into the Volcker report," Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after a two-hour meeting of the Left-UPA Coordination Committee.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) politburo member Sitaram Yechury, who was also present at the meeting, said, "We are fully satisfied with the way the enquiry is progressing. We will await the outcome of the probe."
Refusing to elaborate on the ongoing enquiry, Chidambaram said, "Investigations are going on and I cannot disclose anything at this stage."
The BJP-led Opposition has threatened to rock Parliament at the upcoming Winter Session on the issue.
