Nine persons on Monday walked into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir across the Line of Control as India and Pakistan opened a meeting point at Chakan-da-Bagh Frontier Post.

This is the second meeting point that has been opened along the LoC following the opening of the Uri-Muzzafarabad road via Aman Sethu.

Poonch Deputy Commissioner M R Thakur and Rawalakote Deputy Commissioner Sardar Mohmmad Farooq shook hands and exchanged pleasantries at this frontier point and allowed seven Indian and two Pakistanis from PoK to cross over along zero-line into PoK's Xingpoint post around 1545 IST.

Emotional crossers rushed to talk and embrace their near and dear ones separated for half a century. Others were seen clicking photographs.

Col Sant Ram and his Pakistani counterpart, Lt Col Ali Khan exchanged white flags and hugged each other as hundreds people of PoK and Jammu and Kashmir watched from a distance.

The scheduled crossover from the other side also got delayed due to non-availability of their clearance lists, they said, adding that about 20 people were waiting to crossover to the Indian side.

As part of their decision to provide succor to quake- affected divided families in Kashmir, India and Pakistan have opened five points along the LoC to allow movement of relief material and the people to meet their relatives.

The governments, last week, announced the dates for movement of people along the designated points subject to clearance from the respective sides.
