With permits being issued on Sunday after Ministry of External Affairs clearance, nine persons from Jammu and Kashmir are ready to take the Poonch-Rawalakote road to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir via Chakan-da-Bagh crossing point on Monday.

Six persons from Mendhar and three from Poonch would be going to meet their relatives in PoK, senior officials said but added that they had no knowledge of the number of people coming to India.

"We have yet to receive anything in this direction from the Pakistan side," they said. Jammu and Kashmir police special branch issued permits on Sunday to the persons cleared by the MEA, they told PTI.

They were scheduled to take the bus to PoK but could not, because of the damage caused to the Aman bridge due to the October 8 quake.

Those issued permits included Qateel, Parveen, Sakina and Feroz Sarwar, residents of Goldh (Mendhar), Javed Iqbal and his wife Gulrez Anjum, residents of Galoota (Mendhar), and Mohammad Aslam of Nagali (Poonch). The names of two more persons from Poonch had not yet been received.

The travellers were expected to report at the deputy commissioner's office at 1000 hrs, from where they would be escorted by the civil administration up to Chakan-da-Bagh crossing point on the Line of Control. The Poonch district police chief and Army would be providing them security.
