Congress President Sonia Gandhi Saturday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the second time in as many days, as the political controversy over the Volcker Committee report allegedly involving the party and External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh refuses to die down.

Gandhi's meeting with the prime minister came a day after the opposition-National Democratic Alliance stepped up pressure and decided to meet President A P J Abdul Kalam  to press for the ouster of Singh and announced country-wide protest.

The party had unequivocally and categorically denied any knowledge of or connection with any Iraqi "oil-for-food" contracts and has announced its decision to issue a comprehensive legal notice to the United Nations as well as the Volcker committee.

Sonia's meeting with the prime minister also came amid reports of a possible reshuffle-cum-expansion of the Union Council of Ministers ahead of the winter session of Parliament beginning November 23.
