Global strategic task force formed

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday constituted a six-member task force on Global Strategic Developments under the chairmanship of noted strategic affairs analyst K Subrahmanyam.

The task force will examine various aspects of global trends in strategic affairs. It will be serviced by the National Security Council Secretariat and is expected to submit its report within six months, the Prime Minister's Media Advisor Sanjaya Baru said.

The members of the task force are former chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board P Rama Rao, director of the Energy and Resources Institute R K Pachauri, director of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations Arvind Virmani, former director- general, CII Tarun Das, Air Marshal (retd) Vinod Patney, director of IIT Madras M S Ananth, deputy director general, Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis Uday Bhaskar.

Bhaskar will also function as member-secretary.
