Two of the five centres along the Line of Control agreed to by India and Pakistan would be ready on the Indian side in a couple of days, a defence spokesman said on Wednesday. The points are being opened to coordinate the relief efforts to quake victims across divided Kashmir.

He said the two points - Rawalakot-Poonch and Tattapani-Mendhar - will be ready at Poonch and Medhar respectively by November 4 to enable people to ferry relief and reconstruction material for the victims from both sides of Kashmir.

In Mendhar area of Poonch district, the route is almost ready after clearing the mines adjacent to Roshini Post facing Khanna Post from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the spokesman said, adding that some mines are to be cleared near Gulpur area facing Rawalkote in the main Poonch town in the district.

The spokesman said the other modalities will be finalised by the civil adminstration and would be conveyed to army authorities. The other three points to be opened for crossings along LoC are Nauseri-Tithwal, Chakoti-Riand, Hajipir-Uri in North-West Kashmir, he said.

India and Pakistan had agreed on October 30 to open these five posts along the LoC for people to cross and ferry relief and reconstruction material for earthquake victims from November 7.
