Rastriya Janta Dal state secretary Raj Kishore Chandrawanshi was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Gholakhpur in Patna, police said on Friday.
The assailants fired at least nine bullets at Chandrawanshi while he was sitting on the veranda of his house on Thursday night.
He was rushed to the Patna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police suspect old enmity to be the reason behind the murder.
The miscreants hurled bombs to terrorise the locals while fleeing from the scene.
