Crash news stuns Delhi

The death of two Haryana ministers -- O P Jindal and Surendera Singh --  on Thursday afternoon in a chopper crash has stunned Delhi.

Senior Congress leader Motilal Vora said the state and the party has lost two popular representatives of the people.

"I was stunned after hearing the news. I knew Jindal for years as an industrialist as well as a popular public figure. We are extremely shocked and grieved over the death of the two leaders," he said.

Vora, who is a former All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Haryana, described Surender Singh, son of former Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal, as a young and able leader of the party.

He said Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is rushing to the accident site.

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee expressed shock at the death of Jindal and Surender Singh. He expressed his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved families.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on a state visit to Mauritius, sent his condolence to the members of the bereaved
family.

Bharatiya Janata Party chief Lal Kishenchand Advani in his message said: "I am shocked to learn about the tragic demise of Jindal, Singh and other passengers."
