The second round of peace talks between India and Pakistan, set to conclude by August 2005, will be followed by a meeting of foreign ministers and foreign secretaries from both sides in September, a top Pakistani official said on Monday.
Giving a calendar of events for the talks, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani told reporters in Islamabad that talks on nuclear and conventional confidence building measures will be held in the first week of August, instead of July, in New Delhi.
The postponement has been made at India's request.
Similarly, talks on Wullar Barrage in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on June 28 and 29 in New Delhi, instead of June 24 and 25.
The secretaries of the cultural ministries of both countries will meet in July, followed by talks between Interior Ministry officials on drug trafficking and terrorism and the meeting between the commerce secretaries.
The second round of talks will be completed by August and the foreign secretaries will meet to review its outcome in September, followed by a meeting between the foreign ministers, Jilani said.
The first round of the dialogue process held in 2004 failed to yield any results following which the two countries began the second round.
