The Calcutta high court has asked a dance teacher to teach his students in the presence of his wife after she cried foul over his alleged relations with his students.

The complainant Sneha had alleged that in the name of training, her husband used to hobnob with girl students at the dancing institution located in North Kolkata.

Her husband Suraj Dokania had moved an anticipatory bail prayer against the complaint.

Admitting Suraj's prayer on Friday, a division bench comprising Justice Amit Talukdar and Justice S P Mitra, in an interim order, asked the petitioner to take his wife Sneha from his in-laws' place to the dance school where she would stay during the lessons.

The court, after consulting additional public prosecutor Ashimesh Goswami and Debabrata Roy, Suraj's lawyer, directed that the arrangement would continue for 15 days, during which Suraj would also have to look for an alternative residence where they could stay together.

The bench observed that it would consider the anticipatory bail prayer of Suraj after a fortnight during which they would have to follow the orders.

A resident of Srirampore, Suraj married Sneha in December 2001. Despite the payment of a huge dowry, Suraj and his family allegedly pressed for more and tortured her. Unable to put up with the torture, Sneha left her in-laws' place in April and went back to her parents and then filed a complaint with the police accusing Suraj of infidelity and torturing her for dowry.
