RSS top brass meet on Tuesday

July 18, 2005 20:33 IST

The top brass of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will meet in Nagpur on Tuesday to discuss various issues pertaining to the organisation, including the situation arising out of its stand-off with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Self-styled 'RSS analyst' Dilip Deodhar claims that the meeting is a bi-monthly affair and will be attended by the eight members, who he says are the organisation's 'high command'.

The major item on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting will be the current situation in the ongoing Lal Kishenchand Advani episode, Deodhar said.

The meeting assumes significance in view of Sunday's developments in New Delhi after senior functionary M G Vaidya's assertion in RSS mouthpiece Tarun Bharat that the Surat conclave did ask for Advani's resignation, he said.

According to Deodhar, the meet will also discuss the organisation's approach to the media, especially the electronic media, and its power. Deliberations will be held about the policy to be adopted towards newspapers, he added.

Besides, the think tank will discuss whether the image of the leaders of the RSS and the BJP had been tarnished because of the column written by Vaidya on Sunday, he said.

According to Deodhar, the RSS think tank consists of eight functionaries, including party chief K S Sudarshan, general secretary Mohan Bhagwat, Pracharak Pramukh H V Seshadri and Vaidya himself.
