Delhi Police have arrested a Jammu and Kashmir government official who was allegedly involved in funding terrorist activities.

The official was arrested along with a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Abdul Majid Bhatt.

The southwest district police team arrested Mohammad Qayoom Khan, a J-K government official in the Soil Conservation Department, from the Kashmir valley on Monday, they said.

Khan has been charged with involvement in funding militant activities through 'hawala', the sources said, adding he is believed to have been associated with ISI.

He had allegedly given a cheque for Rs 9.5 lakh to the Islamic Front activists and it was recovered from them during their arrest, they said.

Meanwhile, a team of southwest district police personnel from the New Delhi Railway Station arrested Bhatt when he was trying to escape to Nepal, police sources said on Tuesday.

Bhatt's arrest on Monday is in connection with nabbing of four Islamic Front activists, including a militant and an Inter State Intelligence agent, on July 1, the sources told PTI.

The recoveries made from the Hizbul Mujahideen militant included one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 130 cartridges of AK rifles, two Chinese hand grenades, 13 Under Barrel Grenade Launchers, three detonators and one radio set, they added.

The Islamic Front activists, who had been arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, had plans to attack the Palam Air Force station, police had said.
