A local court on Friday sent Amit Jogi, son of former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi, to judicial remand till July 15 in connection with the murder of Nationalist Congress Party treasurer Ram Avatar Jaggi.

The Central Bureau of Investigation produced Amit before the additional chief judicial magistrate Rakesh Behari Ghore, who sent him to judicial remand upto July 15, the sources said.

Amidst elaborate security arrangements Jogi, arrested on July 1 at New Delhi by CBI, was brought to Raipur on a transit remand.

Immediately after Jaggi was shot dead on June 4, 2003, his son Satish lodged a first information report naming Ajit Jogi and his son Amit as suspects in the murder.

The CBI had initially requested 14 days judicial remand of the accused, which the defence opposed saying there was no evidence of Jogi's involvement in the muder.

Earlier, a Delhi Metropolitan Magistrate had sent Jogi to a six-day CBI custody on July 2 accepting its plea to unearth the conspiracy behind the murder, to recover some weapons and investigate money transaction.

Jogi's supporters were present while Amit was being produced before the court on Friday afternoon. The agency has so far arrested 14 people in connection with the case.
