Some leaders of the rebel Lok Janshakti Party and 21 of its 29 members in the dissolved Bihar assembly joined the Janata Dal-United on Thursday in Patna.

They joined the party in the presence of top JD-U leaders, including Nitish Kumar.

In May, a majority of them had revolted against LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan and announced their support to Nitish.

Narendra Singh, the leader of the rebel camp, said they had joined the party as they had sworn in the affidavits before the Supreme Court that they would join the JD-U.

Narendra Singh said these MLAs had, in the affidavits filed along with a petition challenging the dissolution of the Bihar assembly, declared support for Nitish.

A few days ago, Nitish had announced that the JD-U would give tickets to all 21 after they joined the party.
