Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan, who suffered a mild heart attack on Saturday morning in Patna, is being shifted to Escorts Heart Hospital in New Delhi.

LJP spokesman Sanjay Singh said an air ambulance would arrive in Patna in the afternoon to carry Paswan to the capital.

Paswan was brought to a local hospital early in the morning after he complained of chest pain and uneasiness.

Hospital's medical director A K Thakur said Paswan was kept under observation at the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit of the hospital.

"His condition is stable and there is no reason for panic," Thakur said.

"The problem might also be related to acidity. Let the doctors carry out necessary investigations to diagnose the problem," he said.

Another doctor at the hospital said Paswan might have suffered a 'myocardiac infraction [mild heart attack] and was being thrombolysed", he said.

Sources close to Paswan told rediff.com that he was not feeling well since Friday night.

Paswan has been in Patna past two days taking part in public events.

All his engagements for Saturday and Sunday have been now cancelled.

A large numbers of LJP workers and leaders gathered outside the hospital as the news spread in Patna.
