Shanti Express passengers safe

Several passengers of the Indore-Gandhinagar Shanti Express, stuck near Dakor town in Kheda district for almost 36 hours now following flooding of tracks, have reached their destinations.

Several other passengers have taken shelter in nearby villages and towns. The water level has receded making it possible for passengers to leave the train.

Kumar said several passengers managed to wade through the waters and take shelter in makeshift camps.
 
Around 400 passengers were stuck onboard the train, railway officials told PTI.

Authorities could not reach the site as road connections were cut off too and there were not enough boats at the railway's disposal.

They, however, managed to air-drop food packets for the passengers on Friday.
