The Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam should form a coalition in Tamil Nadu, Congress Member of Parliament E Sudarsana Nachiappan said on Tuesday.

Nachiappan said the DMK would not be averse to the idea of allying with the Congress for next year's state assembly polls.

The DMK, which is in the opposition in Tamil Nadu, is a United Progressive Alliance constituent.

Nachiappan, however, ruled out alliance with the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, as it was a "replica of the Bharatiya Janata Party".

Nachiappan is also chairman of the parliamentary standing committee for the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice.

He said the committee was going through the Right to Information Bill as well as the bill for reservation in the armed forces.

The work on the bill on reservation was almost complete and might be introduced during the budget session of Parliament, Nachiappan said.

The committee was also going through a bill to amend the Hindu Succession Act, he added.
