With the Tamil Nadu assembly polls just 15 months away, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday asked the party to prepare for elections.

She also predicted a snap poll to the Lok Sabha while addressing the in-camera session of the party's general council, party sources said.

"She asked us to prepare ourselves for the assembly and Lok Sabha polls. She hoped the Lok Sabha polls would be held along with the assembly elections. She also asked the partymen to concentrate on solving problems facing the people," said former Union minister and senior AIADMK leader Dalit Ezhilmalai.

Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are due in May 2006. In a resolution adopted at the general council, meeting for the first time after the party's 2004 Lok Sabha debacle, the party demanded that the Election Commission revert back to the ballot paper polling.

Elections through EVMs were not "trustworthy," the resolution said, adding the people wanted a polling system which was "beyond doubts, devoid of mistakes and cent per cent trustworthy."
