Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Rajnath Singh, who is tipped to succeed Lal Kishenchand Advani as party chief, Saturday night met former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is understood to have briefed him about the party's expectations under his leadership.
Apparently advised by the party leadership not to make public statements on his selection for the top job, Singh declined to comment on the issue to waiting mediapersons after his 45-minute meeting with Vajpayee.
Singh had earlier in the day metĀ Advani. He later left for Gajraula to address a party rally as part of its ongoing "Nyay Yatra' protesting the recent murder of party legislator Krishnanand Rai.
