Though infiltration along the Indo-Pak border has come down, it may be occurring through other borders like Nepal and Bangladesh, Army Chief Gen J J Singh Saturday said.

"Due to snowing on the mountains as well as alertness of the army along the Line of Control, the infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir has come down. But it may be occurring through other borders like Nepal and Bangladesh," Gen Singh told reporters after reviewing the passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy in Delhra Dun.

He did not agree with the suggestions that infiltration from across the border has increased giving rise to terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. "I am not ready to accept that infiltration has gone up," he said.

In reply to a question, Gen Singh said army was highly careful toward human rights issues and that two or three incidents cannot dent the image of the full force.

Army has made good contacts with people living in Jammu and Kashmir and north-east regions. Especially, during the recent earthquake, the army has earned lot of praise, he said.

Referring to right to information issue, Singh said the army would accept the law of the land. "It is ready to implement the act," he said.

On shortage of officers in the Indian army, he said there was no vacancy currently, but it would not compromise on its training module being provided to officers at IMA and National Defence Academy.
